ustom HTML | We're excited to tell you all about our honeymoon plans! As some of you have heard, starting early next year, we're taking a year off to travel. As two people who love traveling and adventure, we thought that we might spend our honeymoon living and working overseas for a year. But, instead of settling for in one place for the duration, we decided to fulfill many dreams by spending our year on the move, and began planning for the trip of a lifetime! The journey will start with 5-6 months of road tripping around the western US, visiting about 35 national parks (aka Phase One). We're looking forward to lots and lots of camping, backpacking, cooking over a camp stove, toasting marshmallows, hiking, incredible scenery, wildlife, amazing night skies and more. Ryan has a goal of someday seeing all 58 US national parks, so this will be a huge down payment on that. This segment will end in Hawaii, on our way to the next, where we'll visit the 2 national parks the islands have to offer. Next we're off to South East Asia, where we'll spend 3 months in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, with potential stops in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and more. We're really excited for deserted beaches, amazing food, vibrant culture, and who knows what else. From there, we'll head to New Zealand for the final part of the year. We'll spend most of these few months backpacking all over the country, or as the locals call it, 'tramping'. NZ has 9 'great walks' which are spectacular backpacking trips of varying lengths and difficulty throughout many of the nation's dozens of national parks. We're also looking forward to spending some time on a farm or vineyard, earning our keep. So that's the plan. Let us know what you think! Are there specific places we should go along the way or things we need to do? We'll keep posting here with details on the trip as they come togthter. |
